Song and Photograph of the Week - March 9, 2015

As my final papers are due this week, I am not preparing a full week of posts. I have a Gothic short story to write, and an analysis on a short story to film adaptation. :) Oh boy!

Song of the week, I heard this on the radio the other day. I have heard it several times, but never looked up what song it was! It is such a sweet song, and warning, it is country :)
Mean To Me - Brett Eldredge

I love to find rock stacks on my hikes. I've found 2 this year already! This one is from my hike at Horsetail Falls.

Oneonta Trailhead Hike - January 2015 - Part 5

Continuing over the bridge and up the connecting trail, which, if you continue a mile or so will take you down to Horsetail Falls. We didn't venture down that far. But we did stop at the look out at the top! To our surprise, there was a little rainbow!

Oneonta Trailhead Hike - January 2015 - Part 4

Upper Oneonta Falls.....SO MUCH WATER. It is pretty loud, and amazes me at how much water flows over the edge. Makes for very fast rapids, and white water below! So cool! If you follow me on Instagram, you've seen this snail. Can I just say he is soooo cute?! I thought I was seeing just a shell, then I looked closer and it was a whole snail!!! And here is the bridge that could use some help, looks cool and safe. Looks are deceiving!

Oneonta Trailhead Hike - January 2015 - Part 3

So this freaking awesome tree.....looks like something out of Narnia! I was so excited when Sara pointed this out. I had totally missed it! Then a view of  the water (from the bride) which is pouring over the edge to make Lower Oneonta Falls. Note, this bride probably needs to be replaced, the sign of "one person to cross at a time" has been there for quite a while......scary :P

Oneonta Trailhead Hike - January 2015 - Part 2

As with many hikes in the Columbia Gorge, you get great views of the Columbia River! Never ceases to amaze me. Also, found a super poky plant, I thought it was pretty; it was very hard to get into focus though! But look at those spines! Always finding new plants to photograph on my hikes!

Oneonta Trailhead Hike - January 2015 - Part 1

January 19th was a holiday, and my friends and I took advantage of that! No school, no work, a free day! We were planning to hike to Triple Falls, but alas, there had been a landslide, and the trail was closed. So we decided to continue on down to Upper Oneonta Falls! Here is our little adventure!

Angel's Rest Hike - January 2015 - Part 6

On our way back down, I decided to stop along the river/stream that you cross. I think I stop there every time, just so pretty! The last image is from Crown Point. Mocha, and I beat the rain on our hike. But by the time we got to Crown Point, it was rainy, and so cloudy. Still had to stop for a photo, the Gorge has that effect on me! Hope you enjoyed this week's posts on Angel's Rest!

Angel's Rest Hike - January 2015 - Part 5

Here are some images, and panoramas of the view at the top! You will see why it's such a popular hike! Thanks for reading the series of posts this week on Angel's Rest! I hope you enjoyed it!

Angel's Rest Hike - January 2015 - Part 4

We made it to the top! Looking back towards Devil's Rest, I love all those rocks! Then, Mocha proud we made it to the top! It has the perfect places to rest and eat lunch or a snack at the top! But, mind you it can get really busy on nice days.

Angel's Rest Hike - January 2015 - Part 3

This time of year really shows off all the dead trees along the hike. I think they have their own beauty, but I do love it when the other trees get leaves. Like I said, the views are amazing!

Angel's Rest Hike - January 2015 - Part 2

Funny, how all the good images of, Mocha, are all in a row. So today is dedicated to Mocha! She's such a trooper on hikes, despite being 8 or 9 years old. All through the hikes we go on, she keeps up really well. If she didn't have so much grey, you would never know shes not a puppy. Most of the time she has good trail manners, but sometimes......she forgets. She likes to walk on the left side of the trail sometimes, I've been trying to teach her to get over when people are coming. She's catching on pretty well :) She definitely loves going on hikes though, and is getting better at being my model!

Angel's Rest Hike - January 2015 - Part 1

My dog, Mocha and I hiked to Angel's Rest back on January 10th. This is one of my favorite hikes in the Gorge. Not many other hikes have this view, over 180 degree view of the Gorge. It is incredible, I highly recommend it, if you have never hiked it. Just over 4 miles round trip, this hike is moderately challenging. But, well worth your time and effort. Over the next week, you will see why :)

Dry Creek Falls Hike - January 2015 - Part 5

These next two are both made up pf more than 1 image. Downside of shooting with a 50mm fixed lens, not a wide view of nature. SO, to improvise I combine them in Photoshop.

Dry Creek Falls was so pretty! I loved that it was still slightly frozen all around. Which also meant, it was very cold here. :P I would definitely recommend this hike!

Dry Creek Falls Hike - January 2015 - Part 4

I was definitely not prepared for how cold it was closer to the falls. Gloves are now a essential for all my hikes I do in the winter. My fingers were pretty much not functioning, which isn't helpful when trying to shoot manual.

Dry Creek Falls Hike - January 2015 - Part 3

Close ups are one of my favorite things to capture when I am hiking. You have to be looking to find the gems, which is fun for me. Keeps me entertained while walking through the woods :)

I love the dew drops on this spider web! It amazes me such a tiny creature can make something so beautiful.

It's always a challenge to get my dog, Mocha to look at the camera. She totally knows when I'm trying to take a picture, and deliberately looks away 90% of the time :P

Dry Creek Falls Hike - January 2015 - Part 1

Back on January 3rd, I went on a hike with my friend Sonny, and my dog, Mocha. It was such a fun hike (which I've done before), I had never done it in fog before. Its relatively easy, and not too steep. This week, you'll get to follow throughout the hike in 12 pictures :) Enjoy, and check back Mon-Fri this week for new posts!

Sandy River Delta Park - January 2015 - Part 3

Sunset is a gorgeous time to take a walk at the dog park. Mocha and I normally kill about 1-2 hours walking around. Getting there an hour or 2 before sunset sets that up as a possibility to see gorgeous skies, and light! Even though Mocha is 9 or so, she doesn't act old. On the contrary, shes like a puppy, only with some grey :)

She's my little model..

Mocha is SO happy she's smiling :)

Her, "Okay, can we go now?" face.

Back to what I said about her acting like a puppy: Here she is running into the sunset.
