Photograph of the Week - May 11, 2015

This past weekend I got to go on a Backcountry Cooking Seminar through PSU. We got to cook some awesome food, and go on a small day hike. This is Mt. Hood looking towards the west. We camped on the East side of Mt.Hood. It was absolutely gorgeous over there! Warm, dry and sunny!

Song and Photograph of the Week - March 17, 2015

Finals are over for me!!! WHOO! I am now gearing up to go on a week long backpacking trip during spring break, aka next week! Happy St. Patrick's Day :)

Do you ever hear a song, and don't really like it at first? That happened to me this past week. I heard Lay Me Down by Sam Smith on the radio and I wasn't a fan. But once I got home and listened to it again.... its been playing non-stop on my spotify :)

On Sunday, I got to go hike to Mirror lake with a couple of girls from the YoungLife club I volunteer with. I had a lot of fun hiking with them! Even though it rained :( the lake was beautiful! Wish we could have seen Mt.Hood though.

Song and Photograph of the Week - March 9, 2015

As my final papers are due this week, I am not preparing a full week of posts. I have a Gothic short story to write, and an analysis on a short story to film adaptation. :) Oh boy!

Song of the week, I heard this on the radio the other day. I have heard it several times, but never looked up what song it was! It is such a sweet song, and warning, it is country :)
Mean To Me - Brett Eldredge

I love to find rock stacks on my hikes. I've found 2 this year already! This one is from my hike at Horsetail Falls.

Song and Photograph of the Week - March 2, 2015

As I am catching up on editing all my adventure photos, I will bring back Song and Photograph of the week this week!

I assume most of you have seen the trailers for the live action Cinderella film already. One of my favorite songs on one of the versions is Aeon. It builds so nicely, I love it! Nick Murray – Aeon (feat. Juliet Lyons)

I went on a hike to the Herman Creek Pinnacles this past Saturday! It was so windy, but fun. My friend Ryan went with me, and we figured out we are both pretty clumsy :P Both of us fell at one point or another :) I captured this image on that hike. I got it how I wanted it on the FIRST try! WHOO! I loved how the sunlight was catching on the moss.

Backpacking to Twin Lakes - PSU ODP - Part 7

First thing I did in the morning? Take pictures of the rain :) I kept my camera in my pack the rest of the time, didn't want to get it all wet. Hope you enjoyed all these images!

Backpacking to Twin Lakes - PSU ODP - Part 6

We made it to Upper Twin Lake!! It was frozen over, and so pretty!

Taking a little break, before finding a good camp site for all of us.

SO GLAD Mt. Hood was visible for this image!!!!! Gorgeous. The clouds rolled in hard all night, and it was raining by morning.

Backpacking to Twin Lakes - PSU ODP - Part 5

Oregon is gorgeous.....simple as that.

We all took a break, and I caught Avery relaxing :)

Lots of downed trees, not the easiest thing to climb over with a big pack :P

Jacque and Joey putting up a sign that had fallen down. Part of the Leave No Trace is making the trails better than when you came through (picking up trash, or signs).

Backpacking to Twin Lakes - PSU ODP - Part 3

Macro and detail shots are one of my favorite things to look for. Snow makes everything that much better!

The trees looked SO pretty with the sun glistening off the ice/water on the needles.

 Frozen dropplet!!!

My view from the back :)

We stopped for lunch, and one of my new friends, Flannery, had the best backdrop behind her. So of course, me being me, I asked if I could get a picture of her. I am quite happy at how it turned out!

We had three of these birds following us, looking for food. Very cute, but annoying :P

Backpacking to Twin Lakes - PSU ODP - Part 2

While we were waiting for the leaders to try to figure out where to go, I took the opportunity and captured some images :)

Valentine helped us find a sign, and get back on the right trail.

While resting, I was intrigued with this spiky snow :D  It was awesome!

Backpacking to Twin Lakes - PSU ODP - Part 1

On January 31st, I got to go on an overnight backpacking trip! PSU has a great Outdoor Program, equipment, and food was provided. 13 of us loaded in a truck and a van, drove to Ghost Ridge, and hiked to Upper Twin Lake on Mt. Hood. It originally was supposed to be a snowshoe and camping trip. But nature decided this winter to send all our snow to the east coast. :( Our trip became just a hike and camping trip. We did however encounter some snow....just not enough to snowshoe, and it was pretty crunchy, or ice.

We ended up in this marsh area, with a TON of fog. So gorgeous!

Our trip leaders got some help from this guy, Valentine. They were having trouble finding the right trail, and he was able to help us! Which saved us a lot of time!
